To Look For The Whelks — Diana Bloomfield
A juried exhibition showcasing alternative photographic processes including cyanotype, gum bichromate, platinum/palladium printing, and more. Juried by Ann Jastrab, this show celebrates the craft and artistry of hand-made photography.
Ann M. Jastrab is the Executive Director at the Center for Photographic Art (CPA) in Carmel, California. CPA strives to advance photography through education, exhibition and programming. These regional traditions evolved out of CPA's predecessor, the renowned Friends of Photography. While respecting these West Coast traditions, CPA is also at the vanguard of the future of photographic imagery.
Before taking the helm at CPA, Ann was the gallery manager at Scott Nichols Gallery and also the gallery director at RayKo Photo Center in San Francisco for 10 years. Ann has curated many shows in California while simultaneously jurying, curating, and organizing numerous exhibitions for other national and international venues. Ann is also a teacher, writer, and master darkroom printer.
Donna Cosentino
In a life dedicated to photography since 1971, Donna Cosentino has been a news photographer, museum docent, curator, educator, and leader in the photographic community. After thirty years of teaching photography, Donna retired and opened The Photographer’s Eye in Escondido, a gallery whose mission is to enlighten and educate the community on the history and art of photography through exhibitions and classes.

A photograph is a (S)Light of Hand, a magic trick of sort, conjured into being. Light is summoned and chemistry is concocted making visible both the intangible and the corporeal. It is heart and mind, imagination and craft, melding together into an experience of life-altering alchemy.
We, here at our Collective and Gallery have a deep respect and affection for historic processes. In this juried exhibition, we wish to celebrate this love for hand-made, photo-based processes and invite you to view this magic-making wizardry in our spellbinding juried show, (S)Light of Hand.
