60M ROAD, TELLURIDE, CO, USA, 2018 & 2019 — Philipp Scholz Rittermann
In his latest series, Sight • Time • Memory, Philipp Scholz Rittermann imagines what it would look like if his gaze could encompass more than just the present moment. Using a large-scale projector, he projects a landscape image from a previous season onto the same landscape, then rephotographs the resulting scene.

From nocturnal scenes of industry to views of pristine landscape, Scholz Rittermann's work spans opposite ends of our environment. His work is held in over one hundred public, private, and corporate collections, from MoMA, New York, to the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris, France. Scholz Rittermann exhibits in national and international venues, and he was honored with a mid-career survey at the Museum of Photographic Arts San Diego, which published the monograph Navigating by Light. Scholz Rittermann has been teaching photography for over thirty years in the USA and abroad. In 2011, the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, La Jolla Campus exhibited large-scale photographs from "Emperor's River," a multi-year project he conducted in China.
