Donna Cosentino has been passionate about photography since 1971, when she took her first black and white darkroom class in high school. That early experience ignited a lifelong dedication to the craft. She earned a B.A. in Art with an emphasis in Photography from San Diego State University and went on to teach Photography and Graphic Design at Palomar College from 1999 to 2017.
Donna founded The Photographers Eye Collective in 2017 to create a collaborative space for photographers to learn, create, and exhibit. She works with a range of equipment from medium format film cameras to modern digital systems, and specializes in both traditional darkroom techniques and contemporary alternative processes.
A special four-day photography adventure along the beautiful California coast exploring the legacy of West Coast Photography. Visit locations photographed by Ansel Adams and Edward Weston, meet contemporary fine art photographers in their studios, and photograph from Big Sur to Monterey with instructor-led guidance.
West Coast Photography was a reaction to the Pictorialist style of soft focus photography popular in the 19th century. Carmel was the epicenter of photographers who were looking for a modernist way of expressing themselves with sharply focused images. Pioneers Ansel Adams and Edward Weston were among the leaders of the movement.
This workshop takes you to locations they often photographed and introduces you to photographers who continue that style. We also visit those who blaze their own more contemporary trail.
There is no other workshop like this! You will be inspired to make meaningful photographs on this special adventure.
All levels welcome, from iPhone to large format.
